Friday's Fun - Berry Picking

Most blueberry farms in Middle Tennessee open right after the 4th of July. Since Anna and Bekah have a camp next week, I decided this Friday is a good day for berry picking. We went to this same farm last summer and were able to pick blackberries and blueberries. I'm hoping for more of the same this year, since the blueberries freeze so well!

My sweet friend Misty lives up north, not too far from this farm. She has graciously offered her backyard for us to use for a post-berry picnic. Be sure to pack a lunch to join us! We can just caravan to Misty's house on Friday.

Where: Fisher Farm Market
6311 Henry Road, Springfield, TN 37172

When: Friday, July 10
Farm opens at 7 - we'll aim to arrive between 8 & 9 to beat the heat

Cost: Blueberries are $2/pound, Blackberries $2/quart

Why: Because picking berries is fun - and it's a good lesson for city kids like mine! I've tried a few other farms and I like this one because they welcomed my girls last year, instead of treating them like an inconvenience.

I've researched several blueberry farms in the area, so if you'd like a copy of that spreadsheet to plan a different day that works with your schedule, let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.

As always, you are welcome to invite others to join us! Let me know if you'll be coming...

Shannon - just google mapped in prep for our outing tomorrow and realized the farm is a pretty good distance out of town. Chase is not a big fan of the car AT ALL (I thought babies were supposed to love car rides!) and I am afraid it will make for a "not so pleasant" day if I attempt such a grand outing yet. We will catch up with you all soon though! I LOVE that you are doing this blog and was really looking forward to the fresh blueberries! Have fun!
